満ちあふれる神様の愛と恵み
先々週に行われた総会で、今年度の教会の主題と聖句が選ばれました。主題は今日の説教題にしています。「奉仕と証し～今できることを～」。主題聖句はコリントの信徒への手紙Ⅱ9章8節です。
「神は、あなたがたにいつもすべての点ですべてのものに十分で、あらゆる善い業に満ちあふれるように、あらゆる恵みをあなたがたに満ちあふれさせることがおできになります。」
この主題と聖句を選んだ理由として、「コロナ禍にあっても、できることがある。そして、神様は私たちにその力を与えてくださっている」、という言葉が添えられていました。昨年から続く新型コロナウイルスの感染拡大のために、金沢教会でも色々な活動を制限してきました。しかしそのような中でも私たちにできることはあるし、神様がそのための力を与えてくださっています。私たちに今できることは何か、ということを共に考え、そして実行していく一年としていきます。
ところで、コリントの信徒への手紙Ⅱ8～9章では、コリントの教会からエルサレムの貧しい信徒に送る献金のことが述べられています。パウロは各地の教会で献金を募り、エルサレムに届けようとしていました。それぞれの教会の信徒も、特に財産を多くもっていたわけではありませんでしたが、パウロからエルサレムの教会の話を聞いた人たちは、自分たちから進んで献金を集め始めました。それぞれが自分の力に応じて、ときにはその力以上に献げたのです。
そこで人々を突き動かしたのは、イエス・キリストでした。イエス様が献げてくださったものの大きさを思いながら、諸教会の人たちはそれに倣ったのです。イエス様が与えてくださった恵みのことを、パウロはこのように述べています。
「あなたがたは、わたしたちの主イエス・キリストの恵みを知っています。すなわち、主は豊かであったのに、あなたがたのために貧しくなられた。それは、主の貧しさによって、あなたがたが豊かになるためだったのです。」（8:9）
神の子であるイエス様は、あらゆる点で豊かな方でしたが、あなたのもとへ降り、あなたと共に生き、あなたを豊かにするために、人の子として生まれました。あなたが失ったものを取り戻し、神様の祝福と恵みを受けることができるために、イエス様はご自身のすべてを、その命さえも失ったのです。イエス様は神様の愛を現わされました。神様はあなたのことをそれほどまでに愛し、ご自身の命を捨ててもいいと思い、実際にそうするほどに、あなたのことを大切に思っておられるのです。
祝福を受け、祝福を与える
コリントの教会の人たちも、そのイエス様の愛によって突き動かされて、エルサレムへの献金を集めようとしました。パウロはその献金のことを９章５節で「贈り物」と呼んでいますが、これは通常であれば「祝福」と訳される言葉です。神様が私たちに命を与え、力を与え、恵みを与えてくださる祝福が、私たちが他の人へ、あるいは他の人から私たちへ分け与えられます。その祝福は、言葉によるものだけでなく、具体的な行為によってもなされます。
ここでパウロは、具体的な行為として献金のことを考えていますが、内容としては献金だけに限られるものではありません。神様が私たちのために為してくださったこと、他の人が私たちのために行ってくれたこと、そして私たちが他の誰かのために行うことも、祝福であり、8節の「善い業」に含まれます。
神様は、この世界に祝福が満ちることを望んでおられます。そもそも、神様はこの世界を祝福された世界として造ろうとされたのです。祝福を与えあうような善い業を行える者として、私たち人間は造られました。神様にかたどられ、神様に似せて造られた人間には、それができるのです。
その善い業は、不承不承に行うものではなく、強制されて行うものでもありません。自分が祝福を受け、愛され、大切にされて、自分も同じようにしようと心に決めた通りに行われるものです。
「喜んで与える人を神は愛してくださる」（8：7）とパウロは言います。これは、善い業を行うことが愛される条件だ、ということではありません。神様は私たちを愛してくださっています。その中でも、喜んで与える人は、祝福されており、愛されており、大切にされている人――そのことを自覚した人です。神様が愛してくださっていることを知ったからこそ、喜んで与える人とされたのです。そのことを神様も喜んでおられます。
神様は、私たちがいつもすべての点ですべてのものに十分で、あらゆる善い業に満ちあふれるように、あらゆる恵みを溢れさせることがおできになります。私たちが豊かになり、祝福され、それによって善い業に満ちあふれさせることが、神様の願いです。
そして私たちが受けた祝福を、私たちも他の人に与え、分かち合うならば、その祝福はますます豊かになっていきます。自分が祝福されることばかりを考えるならば、得られる祝福はわずかです。むしろ、惜しまずに豊かに与える人こそ、祝福を豊かに受けることになります。しかし、真っ先に祝福を与えるのは神様であり、私たちのために惜しまずに与えてくださった方がイエス・キリストなのです。
今、できることを
教会の働きは、大きく三つに分けられます。働きの一つ目は交わりです。神様は、「人が独りでいるのは良くない」（創世記2:18）と言われ、その人に向き合うパートナーを与えてくださる方です。人と人とが関わり合い、向き合い、共に生きることは大切なことです。教会は、イエス様と結びつけられ、神様と向き合うところでもあり、それと共に、互いに結び合わされて、共に生きる交わりの場でもあります。
この交わりの部分は、コロナの影響を受けて大きく制限してきましたが、その重要性を再確認させられています。今すぐに以前のような交わりの時間をもつことは難しい状況ですが、どのようにすれば交わりの場をもつことができるのか、知恵を出し合うことが必要です。
働きの二つ目は伝道です。教会は神様の言葉を語り伝え、神様の言葉を共に聞きます。イエス様が現わしてくださった神様は、私たちがどのような者であろうとも、この私を愛してくださるお方でした。私たちのために命を捨ててもいいというほどに、私たちを愛し、大切に思ってくださっているのが神様です。その愛を知ったことは、私たちにとって大きな喜びでした。その喜びを伝え、共有することが伝道です。
今、この時代だからこそ、神様の愛を聞きたいと思っておられる方がおられるかもしれません。大規模な集会は難しくても、何か伝える方法があるでしょう。私たちが受けたものを、どのようにして伝え、分かち合っていくことができるでしょうか。
働きの三つめは奉仕です。奉仕には、礼拝や教会学校での奉仕のほかにも、受付や掃除など、奉仕アンケートに書いてくださったような色んな事があります。さらには教会の中だけでなく、外での奉仕もあります。ボランティアや社会活動を通して、あるいはそれぞれの仕事の中でも、この世界に神様の愛を現わし、人を祝福するような働きが行われます。あるいは、この世で誰かが祝福を奪われているときに、そこに寄り添い、抵抗し、正義と平和を求めることもまた、奉仕に含まれるでしょう。
これらの三つの働きは、どれもイエス様がなされていたことです。私たちはイエス様の物語を受け継ぎ、それぞれの時代、それぞれの社会の中で、神様の祝福が満ちるために神様に仕え、また隣人に仕えるのです。そしてこれらの働きは、教会だけでなく、めぐみ幼稚園でも大切に行われてきたことでしょう。
神様はどのようなときでも、私たちを愛し、祝福を与えてくださいます。私たちがそれに応えて行う働きには、いつもイエス様が共にいてくださり、それを喜びつつ支えていてくださいます。今、私たちにできることはなんでしょうか。これまでと同じことだけでなく、今、この時、この場所で、この人たちとなせることは何か、ということを考え、祈り求めながら、この一年を共に歩んでいきましょう。

" Service and Testimony - What We Can Do Now- "

The Fullness of God's Love and Grace
At the general meeting held the week before last, the theme and scripture for the church for this year were chosen. The theme is the title of today's sermon. The theme of today's sermon is "Service and Witness - What We Can Do Now. The theme verse is Corinthians II 9:8.
"And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work." (NIV)
The member who chose the theme and scripture added the following reason: "Even in the midst of the corona disaster, there are things we can do, and God has given us the power to do it." Due to the spread of the new coronavirus since last year, Kanazawa Baptist Church has restricted various activities. However, there are still things we can do and God has given us the strength to do them. This year should be the year for us to think about what we can do now and then do what we can do together.
By the way, in Corinthians II chapters 8-9, there is a reference to the donation from the church in Corinth to the poor congregation in Jerusalem. Paul asked for donations from churches around the country on behalf of the congregation in Jerusalem. The members of each church did not have much wealth, but when they heard about the churches in Jerusalem from Paul, they began to collect donations voluntarily. They did what they could do and, at times, even more than what they thought they could do.
What motivated the people was Jesus Christ. Thinking of the magnitude of what Jesus had given them, the people of the churches followed his steps. Paul said about the grace that Jesus had given them as follows:
"For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich." (8:9 NIV)
Jesus, the Son of God, was rich in every way, but He was born as the Son of Man to come down to you, to live with you, and to make you rich. Jesus lost everything, even his life, so that you could regain what you had lost and receive God's blessings and grace. Jesus showed God's love. God loves you so much that He was willing to lay down His life for you, and in fact, He cares about you so much that He would do so.
Receiving blessings and giving blessings
The people of the church in Corinth were also motivated by the love of Jesus to collect a donation for Jerusalem. Paul calls that donation a "gift" in chapter 9 verse 5, a word that would normally be translated as "blessing. We can share the blessings that God gives us in the form of life, power, and grace with others and so can they. The blessings can be given not only in words, but also in concrete actions.
In the verse, Paul is thinking of giving a donation as a concrete act, but it is not limited to giving a donation. What God has done for us, what others have done for us, and what we do for others, are also blessings and are included in the "good work" in verse 8.
God wants this world to be filled with blessings. God created this world because He wanted it to be filled with blessings in the first place. We human beings were created to be able to do good work that would give blessings to each other. Human beings, created in the image of God and in His likeness, are capable of doing so.
That good work is not something we do grudgingly or under compulsion. We do it because we have been blessed, loved, and cared for, and we have made up our minds to do the same.
Paul says, "God loves a cheerful giver" (9:7). This is not to say that doing good work is a requirement for being loved. God loves us. Among us, however, those who are willing to give are those who are blessed, loved, and cherished - those who are aware of this. Because they know that God loves them, they are made into willing givers. And God is happy about that, too.
God is able to make all grace abound so that we will always have enough of everything in every way and be filled with every good work. It is God's desire that we should be rich and blessed so that we can abound in good work.
And if we share the blessings we have received with others, the blessings will continue to grow in abundance. If we only think about being blessed for ourselves, the blessings we receive will be minimal. Rather, those who give generously and abundantly will receive blessings in abundance. But it is God who gives the blessings first, and Jesus Christ is the one who gave generously for us.
What we can do now
The ministries of the church can be divided into three main categories. The first type of ministry is fellowship. God says, "It is not good for the man to be alone." (Genesis 2:18 NIV), and He is the one who gives us partners to face each other. It is important for people to relate to each other, face each other, and live together. The church is a place where we are connected to Jesus and face God, but it is also a place of fellowship where we are connected to each other and live together.
The fellowship has been greatly limited due to the influence of corona, but I have been reminded of its importance. It is difficult to have the time for fellowship like before right now, but we need to share our wisdom on how we can have a place for fellowship.
The second type of ministry is evangelism. The church members listen to God's words together and pass them on. The God that Jesus revealed to us is the one who loves us no matter who we are. He loves us and cares for us so much that He is willing to lay down His life for us. It was a great joy for us to know that love. To pass on and share that joy is evangelism.
There may be people who want to hear about God's love all the more at this time. Even if it is difficult to hold a large scale meeting, there must be some way to share His love. How can we pass on and share what we have received?
The third type of ministry is service. Service includes not only worship and church school, but also reception, cleaning, and many other things that you wrote in the service questionnaire. In addition, there is service not only inside the church, but also outside the church. Through volunteer work or social activities, and even in your own work, you can show God's love to the world and bless others. Service may also include supporting those in need, resisting evil, and seeking justice and peace when someone is deprived of blessings in this world.
All three of these ministries are what Jesus did. We are to inherit the story of Jesus and serve God and our neighbors so that God's blessings may abound in each generation and in each society. And I am sure that these ministries have been conducted with great care not only in the church but also in Megumi Kindergarten.
God loves us and blesses us at all times. Jesus is always with us, joyfully supporting us, in the work we do in response to God's love and blesses. What can we do now? Let us walk together this year, praying and asking, not only for the same things we have done in the past, but also for what we can do now, at this time, in this place, as members of this church.
